Summer-Last Post

Hello!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Summer! Good luck next year in middle school, you all will be great. :)

I have been teaching Kindergarten at Frost, but it is not the same without all of you fifth, I mean sixth graders, in the hallways! Congratulations again on a fantastic year in fifth grade.

Good luck! :)

Update :)

Hello! I hope all of you enjoyed the past week! Of course I remember who all of you are, and I will not forget any of you.

How are your Civil War projects going?

Does anyone have some good book suggestions for me? I am about to start the second book in The Hunger Games series! One of my favorite parts about this year was hearing all of your book suggestions for me, so thank you again for that!

White Pines is coming up fast! See you all soon!

Midterms

Hello everyone! I hope you all showed your parents your midterms. If you are worried at all, this is your time to set goals and make plans to achieve those goals. If you need help setting goals or on understanding any assignments, please see me or Ms. Riggs. Like Ms. Riggs and I mentioned in class, these grades are reflective of only half of a trimester. You have time to improve your grades if that is your goal, or work on learner qualities. If an "area of concern" was marked on your midterm, it means that those were the areas that were believed to be affecting your grades or the classroom environment.

In the past week, I have seen an immense amount of improvement with turning in late work and new assignments on time. Please keep up the good work!

If you have any questions or comments about your grades and/or comments, please talk to me on Monday. I will be at school until Thursday, so make sure you get those late assignments turned in no later than Wednesday! :)

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend (and this lovely weather)!

The End is Near...

The end is near!

This means that all those pink slips that have been hanging on the wall because of missing assignments need to be turned in to me. ALL late assignments are due to me no later than WEDNESDAY APRIL 4th. However, what that means is that if you have a late assignment, you need to stay in at lunch to go to homework lab. We are here to help you!

Why is the due date so soon you might be thinking? My last day is Thursday, April 5th. Let's get that homework turned in early so we can play soccer on these upcoming, hopefully warm, days outside at recess!

Thank you all for your hard work so far this year!

Goal Setting

Today during language we are going to be combining the focus skill of the week with our blog posts! In order to do this, I want you to set three goals for yourself while writing in the future tense. Also, I am looking at your grammar for this post, which means no text talk. Also, after choosing a goal, please explain how you plan on achieving your goal. (These should not be 2 sentence-long posts!)

Hello everyone!

Your posts are very enthusiastic, and I hope you continue to use the blog! Middle school is going to be a blast, and I hope every one of you takes advantage of all of the opportunities in middle school! Make new friends, try out new school activities, and have a positive attitude!

Remember our rules that we discussed today about using blogs and creating posts:

B- Bullying will not be tolerated
L- Look at what you wrote (Ask yourself, is it appropriate? Will I hurt someone's feelings?)
O-Only talk to people you know (NEVER talk to a stranger on the Internet)
G-Good decisions

Our class blog is a positive and safe environment, however it is on the Internet, which means people can see it. This is why I control which posts are available to see. Please do not put your last names on the blog or any other personal information. I will not publish posts that reveal personal information which I think is unsafe. If you do not feel comfortable using your name, you can use your initials!

Your compliments are very kind, and I appreciate every single one of them. Thank you for helping our class have a positive environment where you can talk with your friends, ask me questions, and communicate in a safe and positive manner. Have a wonderful evening and see you tomorrow!

I'm looking forward to...

Good afternoon! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! This week in class we will hopefully all be able to go to the lab and answer the following questions on the blog:

What are you looking forward to most in middle school?

What has been your favorite part of 5th grade? (So far, that is!)

My goal is for every one to be able to use this class blog regularly to communicate. If you have any homework questions, please feel free to ask them on here.

To the parents and guardians- If you have any questions or comments about homework or classroom activities I would love to hear from you.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Busy Friday!

Today has already been a busy Friday! We brainstormed strategies for standing up to bullies, such as telling an adult, helping your friends, and telling the bully that what he or she is doing is not right.

In our needs group time, we worked on organizing main ideas, details, and supporting details.

Language was filled with discovering new words for "good" and "said" in order to enhance our word choices in our writing.

In reading we began our centers! You have until next Friday to turn in the centers. We are working on making inferences and using main ideas and details to write organized summaries.

This afternoon will be the second day of our new math unit, "How Likely Is It?"

I am looking forward to reading all of your autobiographies, so make sure you finish those up this weekend! The ones I already have are phenomenal.

Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to turn in all missing work on Monday!
